Substance Abuse

Substance abuse is a complex and far-reaching problem that affects approximately 22 million people in the U.S. alone.

Substance abuse touches not only the personal life of the abuser but every life associated with the drug or substance abuser.

Some drug users say, "I am not hurting anyone but myself, leave me alone." However, we know this is NOT the case. Spouses, children, employers and employees, friends, and acquaintances are all affected and adversely tainted by substance abuse.

Therefore, it may take the entire family structure to help an addict come clean. This is called an intervention. Other ways to help are less subtle. Since families are systems, one relationship feeding and affecting another, it is vitally important that substance abuse, either illegal or legal, be stopped as quickly as possible.

How?

The first step is for the abuser to admit they have a problem and decide if they want help. If they admit they are the abuser and they are the problem, real progress can be made.

Applied Wisdom not only provides one-on-one counseling, but facilitates interventions with the entire family.
