About Applied Wisdom
Applied Wisdom blends Temperament Therapy, Talk Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Change methods (changing thought processes and perceptions) with Christian counseling and biblical principles to ensure clients receive the optimum, moral guidance when the journey of life becomes greater than one person or one family can bear.
What Makes Us Different
Applied Wisdom is a team of professional counselors who have pooled together their strengths to have a profound impact on individuals who have the courage to reach out for comfort and support. Our counselors bring knowledge, education and experience together to provide effective solutions to the problems that occur in real life.
Our combined therapy method is used which allows us to counsel individuals within a family separately, but simultaneously, or the whole family collectively.
Mission Statement
We Know that...
- Truth makes people free when they believe and obey truth
(John 8:31-31), and
- A person will experience emotional and behavioral consequences which are truly positive when that person comes to believe the Truth and actually recognize (accept) it.
- Christian counseling is a calling from God and is pursued with a "burden" to help others. Unlike many professions, Christian counseling requires a deeper commitment, intense compassion, and "Christ-like" love. Applied Wisdom counselors are Spirit-filled, successful practicing Christians foremost. They are then called by God and trained to become counselors.
Therefore...
- We pledge to replace misbeliefs with Truth,
- We pledge to help our clients understand their temperament, discover harmful cognition (thoughts), recognize their false character, and replace them with Truth.
- We pledge to combine Temperament Therapy, talk therapy, and cognitive behavior change methods together, guided by biblical principles and the anointing of the Holy Spirit, to help each person.
- We pledge not to "preach" to our clients or try to convert their beliefs through the counseling process. We will only focus on the issues at hand.
- We pledge not to judge people or criticize their beliefs or relationship with God.
We believe secular counseling isn't enough because...
- Problems confronted in secular (worldly) counseling must be solved using the resources of humans; that there is no help from the transcendent (outside of this world) God.
- Such systems lack ultimate values and deny fixed Truths. What is good for you and what is true are treated as relative (change according to circumstances), rather than fixed or absolute.
- Without exception, secular counseling systems assume God is irrelevant to human or physical well-being.
